The award for the top owner in North America was announced at a high-profile event at Gulfstream Park Racecourse, Florida, where all the winners voted for at the 42nd Eclipse Awards were unveiled.
Godolphin's only other nomination on the evening was Questing who captured the Eclipse Award for Three-Year-Old Filly.
Seven Grade One races were won by Godolphin horses in North America last year, with Questing, trained by Kiaran McLaughlin, gaining two of them, when impressive in both the TVG Coaching Club American Oaks and the Alabama Stakes at Saratoga.
There was also success for Sheikh Mohammed's Darley Stud who picked up the Breeders' award having led all breeders in American graded stakes wins last year.
Nine Darley-breds won 15 graded races during the season. Four of those runners carried the colors of Darley's sister operation, the Maktoum family's Godolphin Stable: Alabama and Coaching Club American Oaks winner Questing, Forego victor Emcee, Matriarch winner Better Lucky, and Alpha, who dead-heated with Golden Ticket in the Travers.
Darley also bred and raced Nahrain, the 2011 Prix de l'Opera winner who won the 2012 Flower Bowl Invitational in another Grade 1 tally for Darley.
