Arc contender dominates awards
Gentildonna, winner of the Japan Cup and Fillies' Triple Crown, has been named as the Japan Racing Association's Horse Of The Year.

The daughter of Deep Impact dominated the awards, carding 256 votes out of 289 having in the Horse Of The Year category and also being awarded the Best Three Year Old Filly Award.
Connections are eyeing an ambitious campaign in 2013 with the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe at the top of their agenda following the filly's defeat of Orfevre in the Japan Cup in November.
Her regular jockey Yasunari Iwata said: "In addition to winning the Filly Triple Crown, as well as the Japan Cup against a formidable field, she was able to capture the Horse of the Year Award. Thanks to this horse I too had a fantastic year, and this year I hope that she and I can sail the world together."
Her trainer, Sei Ishizaka, chose to reflect on a season that saw his filly win four Group One races: "I was overjoyed when she captured the Filly Triple Crown and because her performances were so strong, I decided to take on the Japan Cup. And that race was such that all of us on the team were incredibly impressed as well. With those kind of results, we were able to be recognized with the Horse of the Year Award. I would like to express my deepest appreciation to all, especially the racing fans."
Orfevre, second in the Arc at Longchamp as well as the Japan Cup, was named the Best Older Colt or Horse with Gold Ship, also a son of Stay Gold, the Best Three Year Old Colt.
