Light forced to miss Warwick

Leading contender Trigger The Light will miss Saturday's Betfred Classic Chase at Warwick after suffering a setback.

Alan King's Trigger The Light will miss Saturday's race

A four-time course winner and a promising third on his seasonal return at Haydock in November, the 12-year-old was a 12/1 shot with the sponsors for this weekend's three-mile-five-furlong Grade Three prize.

However, plans are now fluid for the veteran after he incurred a leg injury during exercise.

Despite Trigger The Light's defection, trainer Alan King may still be represented in the race by last month's Folkestone scorer Godsmejudge.

"Unfortunately Trigger The Light won't be running as he's had a bit of a setback this morning," said King.

"He's wrapped a joint and is lame. Hopefully it's not too serious, but he won't be able to go this weekend.

"Godsmejudge could run, but it is a very competitive race."

(reopens) Henry Daly is hoping to saddle Quentin Collonges in the race but is concerned about the prospect of testing conditions.

"I'm very keen to run him but I could have really done without the four millimetres of overnight rain," said the trainer.

"It had been drying up nicely and had got to good to soft but it's back to soft again now.

"It's annoying but what can you do? I've only had about five runners in three weeks because I've got a yard of good ground horses and I just can't run them."
