Jockey Lucy Alexander could be back in action by the end of the month after she suffered a broken collarbone at Musselburgh last week.

Lucy Alexander hopes to be back in the saddle soon

The Fife-based rider fell from Isla Pearl Fisher, trained by her father, Nick Alexander, in a three-mile handicap chase.

"She's obviously disappointed and frustrated that she'll be off for a few weeks, but she's in good spirits," said Nick Alexander.

"Operations are horrible things for jockeys so she is not going to have it operated on.

"It will just be case of letting it heal naturally.

"She'll be off for a few weeks, but hopefully she might be back by the end of January."
