Timeform: Betfair all about Long Run

Long Run is almost a stone clear on Timeform's weight-adjusted ratings heading into Saturday's Betfair Chase at Haydock.

Long Run: Well clear on Timeform ratings

Nicky Henderson's 2011 Cheltenham Gold Cup winner is on 192 with the Halifax-based firm, The Giant Bolster next best at 179.

Timeform's Jumps Editor Daniel Barber commented: "The Betfair Chase revolves totally around which Long Run turns up on the day. If it's the one who rather dented his reputation in the Gold Cup then the race may be open to a shock, but in truth that was a rare blip on the horse's record since his arrival in Britain.

"The balance of Long Run's form last season, notably his second to Kauto Star in both this race and the King George at Kempton, makes him clearly the one to beat."

The big betting heat on the card is the Betfair. Don't Settle For Less "Fixed Brush" Handicap Hurdle and French-import Katkeau is likely to attract plenty of interest as his trainer David Pipe seeks to complete a hat-trick in the race.

Barber added: "Katkeau looks a fascinating contender, and it's bound to be taken as a hint by many that Pipe is going straight for this race having landed the prize with fellow French-breds Grands Crus and Dynaste in 2010 and 2011 respectively.

"Katkeau's adjusted rating of 155 puts him top on Timeform figures, but he's only narrowly ahead of stablemate Knight Pass, who has always had bags of ability and may well start to reveal it in full now he's made the switch to Pipe from Warren Greatrex."

Betfair Chase (all ratings weight-adjusted): 192 Long Run, 179 The Giant Bolster, 178 Weird Al, 176+ Silviniaco Conti

Betfair Fixed-Brish Hurdle 155 Katkeau, 154+ Knight Pass, 154 Katenko, Los Nadis, 153 Mr Moonshine
