A shoulder problem is not expected to affect Dunaden's defence of next month's Longines Hong Kong Vase.

Dunaden: Expected to shrug off slight shoulder problem

The French stayer is still at his Australian base in Werribee recovering from his exertions in the Emirates Melbourne Cup, where he managed only 14th place off a slow pace.

Since winning last year's Cup and heading off the the Far East, Dunaden finished second at Royal Ascot and went off favourite at Flemington due to an impressive victory in the Caulfield Cup.

"He's in Australia for another week and then heads off to Hong Kong," said David Redvers of owners Pearl Bloodstock.

"He had a tough race in the Melbourne Cup and pulled a muscle in his shoulder, which he has had some physio on.

"The race wasn't run to suit but we're looking forward to going on our travels again.

"After Hong Kong, the plan is to bring him back and give him a break before coming back for something like the Coronation Cup."
