The 20-year-old was scheduled to have his first ride since turning professional when he was unseated from newcomer Ice Tres, trained by his father Rod, shortly after he got the leg-up for the concluding bumper.
"He's gone to hospital for precautionary X-rays on his right ankle," said clerk of the course Robert Bellamy.
"The horse got very agitated in the parade ring as it was being mounted and he came off it."
Rod Millman said: "Me and his mum are on a short holiday so we weren't there.
"We think he may have broken his ankle so he's having an X-ray.
"It was his first professional ride."
Pat Millman later tweeted: "Horse bronked once I got legged up, and was out of control for about five seconds until chucked into the tarmac.
"Prognosis: broken ankle."
