Alan King has put Medermit's reappearance on hold after the grey suffered a setback in training.

Medermit: His reappearance has been put on hold

The eight year old had been pencilled in to return at Aintree in the Old Roan Chase but last year's Haldon Gold Cup winner is now unlikely to be seen this side of Christmas.

Talking on his website, www.alankingracing.co.uk, the trainer said: "It's a shame, but Medermit will certainly be out for the first half of this season, and we will review the situation again on the run up to Christmas."

The son of Medaaly failed to get his head in front after his win at Exeter in November but he made the frame in the Grade One Ascot Chase and Grade One Ryanair Chase before finishing a respectable fourth in the Aintree Bowl on his first attempt at three miles.

Earlier in the week, King had received another blow with the news that his smart bumper performer Tickity Bleue had been ruled out for the season with a minor tendon strain.
