Panther heads to Ascot

Brown Panther is the latest big name to be confirmed an intended runner in tthe Betfair-sponsored King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Ascot. The four-year-old, owned by footballer Michael Owen and Betfair founder Andrew Black, bounced back to form in impressive fashion last time out at Pontefract having disappointed on his seasonal debut in bad ground at Chester.]

Last year he enjoyed notable success, winning at Royal Ascot and finishing second in the St Leger to Masked Marvel for his trainer Tom Dascombe.

With last year's winner Nathaniel a possible runner, St Nicholas Abbey and Sea Moon also in the mix for the King George, it should live up to its title as the mid-summer championship.

Owen tweeted: "We have decided to go for the big one! Brown Panther runs in The King George & Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Ascot a week on Saturday."
