QUEST OF COLOUR (NAP) improved for the step up to 1m2f to open her account on her handicap debut at Redcar. Richard Fahey's filly can go in again in this company raised only 3lb. Notts So Blue got off the mark at Ayr last time but will find this tougher off a 6lb higher mark while Shiftin Bobbins was still beaten a long way when runner-up at Ayr. The remainder are struggling at present with Tortoise looking in the handicapper's grip and 7f winner Neuf Des Coeurs remaining out of sorts.
Step To The Shears couldn't cope with the step up to Listed company at Newbury last time and faces no easy task here giving 6lb to his three rivals, who are all less exposed. GOOD CONTACT (NAP) has an entry in a Group 2 at Doncaster next week and handled give in the ground when scoring easily at Leicester last month. He looks the one to beat ahead of Yarmouth maiden winner Johnny Barnes and Make It Up, who hinted that he might be better suited by an extra furlong when second at Lingfield.
Jack Garrity steered CLOUDS REST (NAP) to a very comfortable all-the-way success at Beverley last Sunday and his claim almost cancels out the penalty incurred so Richard Fahey's filly is taken to complete a quick double. She was earlier a long way behind Indescribable at York but the latter blotted his copybook with a shocking effort at Thirsk, a run which the stewards enquired about. While the run was much too bad to be true it may be worth watching Mark Johnston's colt this time. Bowson Fred went up 8lb for his victory at Musselburgh but it didn't prevent success in a much better race at Chester though another 9lb rise looks excessive. King Crimson, who didn't get the run of the race in that latter event, has since won at Bath and should get much closer on today's terms. Danot followed a victory in a Beverley claimer with a poor effort in a nursery on this track.
RAGGED ROBBIN (NAP) landed a hat-trick in convincing style at Wolverhampton having won over track and trip earlier. He has a penalty to carry but beat The Ginger Berry over four lengths last time and can continue winning ways in this. Menelik has more on his plate having won a Class 6 contest at Lingfield and Lily Edge is preferred off her current mark having scored at the same track last time. Shalambar drops back in trip after placed efforts over 2m while Top Set steps up in distance having slipped down the weights of late.
