The Fugue to line up at Ascot
John Gosden's multiple Group One-winning mare The Fugue has been confirmed an intended runner in the Prince of Wales's Stakes at Royal Ascot on Wednesday.
The five-year-old clinched the Yorkshire Oaks and the Irish Champion Stakes last season before narrow defeats at the Breeders' Cup and in Hong Kong.
She disappointed on her first start of 2014 in the Dubai Duty Free at Meydan, but pleased connections in a workout on Saturday morning and is on course for a second tilt at Wednesday's Group One feature, having finished third behind Al Kazeem and Mukhadram 12 months ago.
Simon Marsh, racing manager for The Fugue's owners Lord and Lady Lloyd-Webber, said: "She worked this morning, she worked well and everyone was very happy. All being well she'll run on Wednesday.
"It looks as though she'll get her ground and it's her optimum trip, so we'll see how we get on.
"Its a very tough ask with the brilliant Treve in the field, but we'll give it our best."
