Star columnist Richard Fahey with his unmissable horse-by-horse guide to his runners at the Chester May meeting.

  • Ballymore Castle: (Sal Smithson - could take a bit of beating
  • Our Gabrial: Very fit and very well (Sal Smithson -
  • Pushkin Museum: Wears a hood at Chester (Sal Smithson -

On Thursday I start with Gabrial’s Kaka in the Group Three Betfair Price Rush Huxley Stakes. Marwan was very keen to run him in the race but he is up in grade from handicaps and there's a slight question mark over the trip. He's in great order and is a good horse and we'll find out just how good from this race.

I run two in the Boodles Diamond Handicap starting with Brian Noble. He won first time out, was still quite green but is learning his trade and is quite a nice horse. I think that he's professional enough to win around Chester so we'll see how he gets on. Our Gabrial is very fit and very well and I've stuck a pair of blinkers on him – he's been off since January but the plan was to obviously get him ready for this meeting.

I saddle two juveniles in the T&L Leasing EBF Stallions Maiden Stakes and I would be surprised if Billy Slater could win around Chester first time out over five furlongs as he's a big, backward horse. But he is quite nice and is another one of Marwan’s although I don’t think he will beat Ballymore Castle. We were delighted with his first run at Newbury and he has a great draw in stall two – I think he'll take a bit of beating as he's a lovely horse.

Pushkin Museum is in the Betfair Cash Out Handicap and he boiled over first time at Sandown. I've put a hood on him and hopefully that will settle him down as he'd been working well in the build up to that race. He can gallop and we'll see what happens. Spiceupyourlife has taken ages to come to herself and I don’t think she has a great draw in 10 – she might be able to pick them up late on if they go flat out but I'd be surprised to see her win from out there.

Cosmic Halo runs in the closing Investec Structured Products Handicap and she ran a good race the other day at Doncaster which will have put her spot on. She's in good order and could run well.
