Sunday's Prix Ganay looks like being a clash between France's best horse and its most popular one with Cirrus Des Aigles being a confirmed starter by trainer Corine Barande-Barbe.

All eyes will be on the Longchamp return of Treve, the scintillating winner of the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe last October, who is expected to take in this extended 10-furlong Group One before Criquette Head-Maarek aims her for either Royal Ascot or the Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud.

Cirrus Des Aigles won the Ganay in 2012 and the eight-year-old's powers do not seem to be waning as he finished an excellent second to Gentildonna in last month's Dubai Sheema Classic."

"He's very well, in cracking form, and he's running in the Prix Ganay," said Barbe.

Other possible runners in the field are Prix d'Harcourt winner Smoking Sun and Belle De Crecy, who finished second in the Qipco British Champions Fillies & Mares Stakes for Johnny Murtagh but has now moved to Head-Maarek in the same ownership as Treve.
