1.30 Triumph Hurdle - money back if the fav wins
With Ruby Walsh riding a relative outsider, the first race of the day has a different feel to the others so far. Instead punters have opted for Barry Geraghty and Royal Irish Hussar (13/2 from 10/1) who is currently our biggest loser and that looks unlikely to change. He definitley needs this decent ground to be at his best and has already won a trial over course and distance. We are hoping for a big run from Tiger Roll (10/1).
2.05 County Hurdle - 5 places
As ever in this race Sky Bet offer 5 places and in punting terms this has a similar set up to yesterday's Pertemps Final where the fav Fingal Bay did the business for our customers. The front of the market has been smashed up again so a big winning SP will be important for the layers. Both Arctic Fire (6/1 from 7/1) and Cheltenian (13/2 from 8/1) will be shocking results - we might have dificulty getting them out of the frame but we will certainly take either of them failing to win.
2.40 Albert Bartlett
Another big field but perhaps not so competitive with the front two in the market having a fair bit in hand over the rest. McCoy's Captain Cutter (8/1) will take the book and would be no disaster but this race is all about Briar Hill (7/4) and Kings Palace (11/4 from 7/2) who look well worthy of their market position. Hopefully Champagne West can get involved for the in form Hobbs yard and do the bookmakers a huge favour.
3.20 Gold Cup
Interesting trade this morning in that all sorts of horses have been backed with plenty of customers looking to get the favourites beat. Currently we are 13/8 Bobs Worth and 10/3 Silviniaco Conti and both have splitted opinion in our book but we will also want Ruby Walsh to be beaten on On His Own (14/1 from 20/1) who is the outsider everyone wants to back.
Best of the rest
We pay an extra place in the Foxhunters Chase, I'm not sure if this is sentimental money, clever money or both but Oscar Delta is the one we have laid the most, last year he was a terribly unlucky loser after unshipping his pilot when looking certain to win so perhaps today Jane Mangan can gain a much deserved festival win.
