Clerk of the course Jason Loosemore had planned to check conditions at 7.30am but was able to give the go-ahead slightly earlier than planned.
The track is reported to have received 14 millimetres of rain during Monday and overnight and the ground is heavy.
"If I'm honest, I thought we were in trouble yesterday but the course seems to have taken the rain well and we're definitely raceable," Loosemore told At The Races.
"We've had to take out the hurdle in the middle of the back straight, as the ground there isn't raceable, and we'll be racing around the wide outside of the track in order to get the best possible ground and get the meeting on.
"My groundstaff have done a brilliant job to get racing on. Our last three meetings have all been on heavy ground now, but if we can just get through this wet spell and then the forecast cold spell afterwards, we'll be fine."
