The 2012 Cheltenham hero, prepared by Fry when overseeing Paul Nicholls' satellite yard, was runner-up to Hurricane Fly when defending his title but suffered a heavy loss to The New One on his seasonal comeback at Kempton.
Fry announced in August he would be putting a possible campaign over fences on hold for another year but revealed the change of plan in his latest blog for StanJames.com.
"Obviously, it's a big change of plan from what we set out to do at the beginning of the season but having been comprehensively beaten by The New One at Kempton we've gone away and discussed our options," he said.
"Between ourselves - the owners, Noel (Fehily), myself and Ciara (O'Connor) - we've quietly gone about our business at home and we've been pursuing the option of going chasing.
"He's schooled well and we're very pleased with him so this is hopefully the start of a new chapter rather than running against a new crop of new hurdlers with fresh legs and possibly not being as competitive as we once were. We'll try a new challenge and we're looking forward to it."
With everything having gone according to plan thus far Fry is already dreaming of the possibility of his stable star lining up in the Arkle at the Cheltenham Festival come March.
"The Arkle is the race we'd all like to end up in but we've got to go and get the experience and jump a fence in public first. Obviously we need to get a couple of runs into him over fences and build towards that but that'll be long-term. It's one step at a time and Monday's the start," he commented.
