The seven-year-old enjoyed a brilliant start to the year, winning comfortably at Sandown in early January before running out an even more impressive winner of a fiercely competitive Cheltenham handicap later that month.
Connections were seriously considering a tilt at the Cheltenham Gold Cup, but Katenko had to undergo an emergency colic operation in early March, ruling him out of the blue riband and the rest of the season.
Williams has been pleased with her charge's progress since he returned from his summer break and provided conditions are suitable, he is likely to be a major player at Cheltenham in a fortnight's time.
"Fingers crossed, he seems in good form, and the plan is to run in the Paddy Power," said the trainer.
"The softer the ground the better for him and we already know he stays further than the Paddy Power trip (extended two and a half miles).
"If you are going to be running over that sort of distance, you would want the ground to be on the soft side. Hopefully conditions at Cheltenham will be suitable."
Katenko also holds an entry in the Hennessy Gold Cup at Newbury on November 30.
