David Bridgwater's pride and joy has finished second and fourth respectively in the last two runnings of the Cheltenham Gold Cup and is still only an eight-year-old.
Although he will not be making his seasonal reappearance in West Yorkshire this weekend, Bridgwater expects his charge to be ready in time to line up in the Betfair Chase at Haydock on November 23, a race in which he finished third last season.
"He's fine really. We don't take any chances with any of our horses and we want him to be 100%. He'd only be 98% if he went to Wetherby," said the trainer.
"He's in brilliant form at home and he's still only a baby, so we're looking forward to running him again.
"Hopefully he'll be all right for Haydock."
Another horse unlikely to make the trip to Wetherby is Mouse Morris' stable star First Lieutenant, with connections favouring the JNwine.com Champion Chase at Down Royal on the same afternoon.
Morris said: "Just looking at both races today, I think Down Royal would be a strong favourite at the moment.
"The rain has come at Down Royal. I need to speak to the owners, but I'd imagine that's where we'll go."
