The three-year-old was viewed as a Derby contender at the start of the year but an early season setback meant Sir Michael Stoute's charge was not ready for the Epsom Classic.
After winning a minor event at Leicester in fine style, Telescope disappointed at Haydock subsequently before roaring back to form with victory in the Great Voltigeur Stakes at York.
That victory saw him move to a prominent position in the ante-post market for the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe and the QICPO Champion Stakes was also mooted as a possible option.
However, the Galileo colt will not now run in either event.
Owners Highclere Thoroughbred Racing tweeted: "Telescope will not run again this season as he has sustained a small bone chip to his near fore fetlock joint. The chip will be removed asap."
While Telescope will miss out on his autumn target, his owners are already looking forward to next term.
"It is such a shame that he won't be running in the Champion Stakes but he will be back for an exciting campaign in 2014," they said.
