Kingman, currently the ante-post favourite for next year's QIPCO 2000 Guineas, has frightened away all bar three rivals in Saturday's Group Three Betfred Mobile Solario Stakes at Sandown and it will be a massive upset if he is beaten.
The colt's trainer John Gosden described the hype surrounding the horse as the "theatre of the absurd" earlier this week, but there can be no doubt that Kingman made an enormous impression when winning his only start to date by six lengths at Newmarket in July.
A half brother to his smart stable-companion Remote, and the seventh foal of a French Guineas winner, the son of Invincible Spirit is bred to be talented and simply bounded clear of the opposition on the July course. Adhwaa, the runner-up, won his next start at Doncaster before finishing fifth in Group Three company and is now rated 94, while third-placed Sea The Skies (beaten fully 11 lengths) won at Sandown next time and is now rated 78.
That form should have Kingman - the first important mount for James Doyle under his new contract to ride for Juddmonte Farms - on a rating of at least 106 (with further improvement very likely) but that is only a pound higher than Godolphin's Music Theory who looks his main rival here.
This Acclamation gelding has won his last two starts at Newmarket - by nine lengths when long odds-on on the latest occasion - and some punters might regard him as a value bet on the figures here if it wasn't for the favourite's enormous potential.
Meanwhile, the 'boys in blue' are also represented by Emirates Flyer (rated 100) who is already twice a winner and ran well enough when second behind Washaar in a listed race at Ascot last time.
The seemingly exposed Rosso Corsa (rated 95) makes up the field in a race in which all interest surrounds Kingman, who seems sure to go off at a short price - and, for betting opportunities, we probably need to look elsewhere.
Godolphin have three representatives - Falls Of Lora, Shuruq and Zibelina - in a hot-looking Group Three Thoroughbred Breeders Association Atalanta Stakes.
Falls Of Lora had no luck in running in this race last year when eighth behind Dank and the reopposing Lady's First but could finish only sixth behind Zibelina at Ascot in July.
Unbeaten in three starts, the last-named looks the team's best chance here particularly in light of her subsequent victory at this level in Deauville and is certainly a filly of potential.
However, both Chigun and INTEGRAL have been competing on an even higher plane.
Integral was a fluent course and distance winner at the Eclipse meeting after which Sir Michael Stoute raised her substantially in class at Glorious Goodwood where she finished seventh behind Winsili in a messy Group One Nassau Stakes.
Allowing for the fact that Integral would probably have finished closer with a clear run, and considering some of the fillies in front of her there (Hot Snap, Sajjhaa, Sky Lantern, Just Pretending), this race could well be hers for the taking.
Chigun is also high class at her best but carries a penalty and has probably been a bit below form in her last two starts at Royal Ascot and Deauville, albeit against top quality opposition.
Although unlikely to win, the consistent Lady's First has run well on two visits to this course and, probably unsuited by ten furlongs at York last time, could reward a small each-way interest.
At Chester, STAR LAHIB can continue her relentless progress in the Golden Square Shopping Centre Handicap.
Mark Johnston's filly came good in style under Ioritz Medizabal at the Shergar Cup last month - her third success at 12 furlongs this season - and then wasn't disgraced in listed company at York's Ebor meeting when finishing fourth behind Our Obsession.
Star Lahib has won and finished third on two previous visits to Chester, looks likely to relish a step up in distance here and probably has the genuine-galloping top weight Sun Central to beat.
Integral 3.15 Sandown 2pts win
Star Lahib 3.30 Chester 2pts win
