Champion courts Sky Bet success

King George fourth Champion Court is 8/1 favourite with the sponsors for the Sky Bet Chase at Doncaster on January 26.

Champion Court: Could head for the Sky Bet Chase next

Martin Keighley's eight-year-old led rounding the home turn in the Christmas feature but faded in the straight in the gruelling conditions.

His Gloucestershire handler is now hoping for better ground for his next appearance and though he has options, preference at this stage is for the Sky Bet Chase on Town Moor.

"He's come out of the King George really well, he's bouncing," Keighley told sportinglife.com.

"He had most of them beaten turning for home but he didn't quite stay three miles in that ground. If it's good ground the Sky Bet Chase at Doncaster would be a nice option for him.

"He should get three miles fine on decent ground and I would like to go there.

"He has two other options if the ground stays soft - a graduation chase at Haydock on the 19th [January] and a 2m5f handicap option at Cheltenham on trials day [Murphy Group Chase].

"After that he's likely to head to the Ryanair."

A high-class entry for the Sky Bet Chase sees Alan King's Walkon as a possible rival to Champion Court, along with Venetia Williams' Katenko, Paul Nicholls' Rolling Aces, Jonjo O'Neill's Mister Hyde and Malcolm Jefferson's Cape Tribulation.
