Simon Holt previews Saturday's action at York and fancies Motivado to land the Betfred Ebor for Sir Mark Prescott.

Motivado: Well treated under a 4lb penalty

2pts win Motivado in 15.40 York at best morning price.

2pts win Saddler's Rock in 15.05 York at best morning price.

The York Ebor Festival comes to a climax on Saturday with the race after which the meeting is named.

Strong favourite for the Betfred Ebor is Motivado, who has crept into the race at the bottom of the weights much to the relief of his trainer Sir Mark Prescott, a man to be feared in these big handicaps.

Motivado collects only a 4lb penalty for a five-length win at Glorious Goodwood last time over this distance and looks to have considerable scope for further improvement.

He is set to go up in the weights for future races and must surely take plenty of beating here.

Camborne and Hammerfest, first and second at Royal Ascot in June, and recent Goodwood winner Hurricane Higgins could prove to be his most potent rivals.

Earlier, Saddler's Rock is taken to follow up his Goodwood success in the Lonsdale Cup.

John Oxx's four-year-old is a progressive stayer who was idling in front last time and probably had more in hand than his length verdict over Askar Tau, the 2009 winner of this race.

Ibicenco was formerly trained in Germany and finished a good second behind Opinion Poll at Sandown in May.

He looks an interesting rival having now joined Luca Cumani, but Saddler's Rock is the one to beat.
