Kieren Fallon, Kris Kin first: "Everything went his way and he travelled good
in his race. They went a good gallop and he was able to quicken. It got a bit
tight at the top of the hill, as it always does when they cross over. I was
worried there, but I let him find himself and he was OK."
Pat Eddery, The Great Gatsby second: "At the two marker I thought I was going
to win. I couldn't see or hear anything. But just as were coming out of the dip
I could see Kieren's horse coming quick and he was coming wide of me. If he had
come closer my chap might have fought back a little bit. He's a brave horse and
gave me a great ride. He was very quick from the gate, very alert and at the top
of the hill I was able to ease him up in front, and when I got him in the
straight I just let him loose."
Johnny Murtagh, Alamshar third: "I was in between a few and he probably
didn't travel as well as I thought he would. He seemed to stay on very well.
There was a worry about him staying but I think all he did today was stay."
Richard Quinn, Norse Dancer fourth: "I felt two out that he'd get there but
he ran a nice race and we had a good clear run."
Jamie Spencer, Balestrini fifth: "He's run a cracker although it would have
been nice to have got closer. Two out I thought he would definitely be in the
three."
Philip Robinson, Dutch Gold sixth: "He ran a good race on ground he didn't
like."
Darryll Holland, Let Me Try Again seventh: "I think he is a St Leger horse,
basically. I had a good position early, I was fourth, but then I got murdered at
the top of the hill. I got shuffled back, but he ran on."
Frankie Dettori, Graikos eighth: He ran like a 25/1 shot. He ran all right but
was outclassed."
Kevin Darley, Magistretti ninth: "He got into trouble at the top of the hill
and never recovered."
Eddie Ahern, Shield 10th: "He broke OK and travelled well, but he didn't find
as much as I was hoping, which is disappointing. I know he is better than
that."
Jimmy Fortune, Summerland 11th: "He was hanging left quite badly in the
straight and possibly didn't handle the track very well but I think he has run a
decent race. He is a better horse on very soft ground."
Christophe Soumillon, Alberto Giacometti 12th: "He started well and we had a
lovely position just behind the two leaders. I was thinking all the way I could
get there, the pace was not very fast and I was pretty good. But when I'm in the
straight, my horse just stopped."
Pat Smullen, Refuse To Bend 13th: "He possibly didn't stay - I'd say that was
the biggest factor. Down the hill I thought I was in with a shot of winning but
this was probably a bridge too far."
Ted Durcan, Franklins Gardens 14th: "We had a lovely position all the way
round but the horse never picked up and ran to the line the way we were hoping
he would. I had a smashing run, no excuses, but when we levelled out at the top
of the straight the horse never really picked up."
Michael Kinane, Brian Boru 16th: "He didn't really run that well. It's
disappointing."
Richard Hughes, Strength 'N Honour 17th: "We had a good position all the way.
The winner was towards the inner and I was just a little bit wide. I came with a
little rattle in the straight to about the two pole, and then he levelled out.
But he ran well."
Seb Sanders, Unigold 18th: "They went very fast and they got me off the
bridle. He didn't handle the ground and when the ground started dropping away I
was always struggling to hold any sort of position. But I wouldn't discount him
in future races when he goes that bit further. His finishing position does not
reflect his ability. He will be a fairly decent horse."
Steve Drowne, Prince Nureyev last: "He finished lame. He just slipped in the
last part off the bend and I think he has done muscles behind. He was giving me
a lovely feel until that and he would have run respectably."
