Wetherby Racecourse
National Hunt only. An oval, left-handed, level track of approximately a mile and a half round. Noted as a good galloping course with a run-in of 200 yards. The fences are normally considered to be quite stiff.
Known as the 'A1 Course' thanks to its proximity to the road of the same name, Wetherby is the only Yorkshire track that stages exclusively National Hunt action. Racing has taken place at this site since 1891 and the course stages many valuable races throughout the jumps season. Plenty of National Hunt stars have appeared at this venue over the years. Feature races include the early-season (Grade 2) Charlie Hall Chase and Boxing Day's (Grade 3) Rowland Meyrick Chase.
