Rule Supreme - could topple Baracouda (Getty Images).
SUPREME TO RULE THE WORLD
By Michael Clower
Rule Supreme would have had a big chance in the Gold Cup and Willie Mullins surprised many with his decision to go for the Ladbrokes World Hurdle instead.
However David Casey's mount did win the French champion hurdle and he ran a great race against Baracouda at Windsor earlier in the season. Given the likely odds, he could prove worth an interest to topple the favourite.
Rathgar Beau has improved enormously this season and I fancy him strongly in the Daily Telepgraph Chase. He is at his best over two and a half miles and the extra furlong here will not be a problem. Native Upmanship should also go well but at the age of 12 he is not the horse he was.
Paddy Power Chase winner Kickham had a string of options this week and the decision to run him in the National Hunt Chase is significant. He may be able to give Mouse Morris some compensation for the eclipse of War Of Attrition in the Arkle Trophy.
Strangely Brown makes tremendous appeal in the Triumph Hurdle. Eric McNamara's gelding has improved with each of his three runs over hurdles and he looks capable of more. The going will be faster than he has encountered in Ireland but he did win on fast ground on the Flat when trained in Britain so the going should not be an issue.
General Montcalm is the best hunter chaser in Ireland but he is a bit accident-prone, If he stands up, he should win the Christie's Foxhunter for Edward O'Grady.
