Paul Carberry - scored on Oulart.
FINAL VERDICT GOES TO OULART
By
Oulart struck for Champion Hurdle-winning trainer Dessie Hughes with victory in
the Pertemps Handicap Hurdle Final on Thursday.
Paul Carberry had his mount well-placed on the second circuit of the
three-mile contest before heading long-time leader Quick and Hirvine on the run
to the final flight.
The 10-1 shot was not too hard-pressed to withstand the late challenge of
Martin Pipe's 66-1 outsider Mioche D'Estruval by two lengths.
Quick, also trained by Pipe, stuck on well for third, a further four lengths
away, with Touch Closer fourth.
A delighted Hughes, welcoming the seventh Irish winner of the meeting, said:
"We had the right man on him and the ground came right.
"He's won on the heavy but we knew he was a good ground horse. It was great
to watch."

Carberry said: "He was great the whole way. Dessie told me to have him handy.
"He jumped great and travelled great the whole way. It was just a case of
when I was going to pounce. Dessie told me not to take it up until going to the
last and he stayed on really well up the hill.
"He quickened up well enough and jumped the last very well."
