RUM TASTES PERFECT FOR IRISH
By
Ireland got a winner on the board on St Patrick's Day at Cheltenham as Another Rum produced a
40-1 shock in the National Hunt Chase for amateur riders on Thursday.
Mark O'Hare gave the seven-year-old a peach of a ride and the pair were
cruising in behind long-time leader Go White Lightning at the top of the hill.
They jumped the second-last in front and from then on the result was never in
question, despite a slightly exuberant leap at the final fence.
Seven lengths was the margin of victory from 150-1 chance and fellow Irish
raider Caislean Ui Cuain, with Control Man a further half-length away in third.
O'Hare said: "It's a dream. You lay at home for years wondering if you can get
your first ride to be a winner. What more do you want?
"He travelled great. I just hung on to him and when I let him go it was all
over.
"When I crossed the line everything was a bit fuzzy. It takes a minute to
sink in but it's a great feeling."
