BOLGER CHARGE IS SPOT ON
By
Spot Thedifference once again showed his liking for the cross-country course
with a last-to-first victory in the Sporting Index Handicap Chase at Cheltenham on Tuesday.
Enda Bolger's tough 12-year-old won three cross-country events last year, the
last two of them over this course and distance.
He was lumbered with top weight of 11st 12lb but that proved no problem to
Spot Thedifference (4-1), who was produced by J T McNamara to lead at the last
of the 32 fences in the three-mile-seven-furlong event before stretching two and
a half lengths clear of the runner-up Luzcadou at the line.
"It's the story of his life, he never really gets going until the party is
over," said Bolger.
"Last year he was last passing the stands in the National, and he just stayed
on and on.
"He is in the National and is also likely to go again for the La Touche Cup
at Punchestown."
Ruby Walsh took a heavy fall from Comanche War Paint and will have to pass the
doctor before he can ride on Wednesday.
