Etendard Indien - suffered shock defeat.
INDIEN ON THE DRIFT
By
Both Carte Diamond (10-1 from 11-1) and Cerium (10-1 from 12-1) have been clipped for the Triumph Hurdle by Hills following the odds-on defeat of Etendard Indien at Newbury on Friday.
Etendard Indien's trainer Nicky Henderson sent the 8/13 favourite for the West Berkshire Mencap Juvenile Novices' Hurdle desperate to get a run into his charge with Cheltenham only days away.
But he must have been wishing that he hadn't bothered after seeing the four-year-old fold from the second-last flight in ground that was officially changed to good to soft after the race.
Following the display Hills more than doubled Etendard Indien's Triumph odds from 12-1 to 25-1.
There are plenty of other notable Festival market moves to report, notably in the Smurfit Champion Hurdle. Totesport have cut defending champ Hardy Eustace to 4-1 from 9-2 for the Champion Hurdle after significant support on Friday. Harchibald is out to 4-1 from 7-2.
Spokesman Damian Walker said: "We now have three co-favourites on 4-1 - Back In Front, Harchibald and Hardy Eustace. "All the recent money has been for Back In Front and Hardy Eustace, while for the first time Harchibald has been friendless in the market." In other Festival betting news Ravenswood is now 6-1 clear favourite (from 8-1) for the Pertemps Final after solid support.
Distant Thunder is all the rage for the William Hill Trophy with Coral cutting his odds to 10-1 joint-favourite (from 12-1) with Keepatem.
Ollie Magern is out to 4-1 from 7-2 for the Royal & SunAlliance Chase following the news that he may run in the Gold Cup and as a result L'Ami has been trimmed to 8-1 from 10-1, and Lord of Illusion from 6-1 from 8-1.
Finally, Le Roi Miguel has been cut to 8-1 from 9-1 for the Daily Telegraph Trophy and Beef Or Salmon has been trimmed to 8-1 from 9-1 for the Gold Cup.
