Limerick Boy soars over the last.
BOY JUMPS RIVALS RAGGED
By
Limerick Boy put in a fine display of jumping to win the Grade Two Favourites
Racing Pendil Novices' Chase at Kempton.
The Venetia Williams-trained runner has had a few fencing problems this
season, but he barely touched a twig and looked comfortable when taking over
from long-time leader Duncliffe turning for home.
Sam Thomas quickly asserted on Limerick Boy as Duncliffe was tapped for toe
and overtaken by Lacdoudal, who never really threatened the 12-1 winner.
Limerick Boy put in a magnificent leap at the second-last and eased home by 12
lengths from Lacdoudal, with the favourite Duncliffe the same distance away back
in third.
The trainer said: "In a sense this has come 24 hours too soon in terms of him
being reassessed for the Mildmay Of Flete at Cheltenham.
"But we'll take a look at that as well as the novices' handicap chase.
"He likes this track and gave Sam his first big win in the Lanzarote Hurdle
13 months ago."
