JAZZ ON SONG AT HAYDOCK
By
Jazz D'Estruval was another to appreciate the underfoot conditions at Haydock when trouncing some decent rivals in the North West Racing Club
Novices' Chase.
Tony Dobbin produced Nicky Richards' fragile grey, who missed a tempting
engagement at Newcastle on Wednesday due to unsuitable going, to lead two out
but he pecked on landing.
However, he was soon back on an even keel and mastered Sonevafushi on the run
to the last fence.
The 15-8 chance soon drew clear and was heavily eased close home to win by
nine lengths from the staying-on Trabolgan.
Richards said: "It was just what he needed, a bit of practice around here.
Hopefully, he'll make up into a Peter Marsh-type horse one day.
"Tony said it rode like a good race.
"The main target with this horse is to keep him right.
"He might run in the Reynoldstown if it comes up soft and hopefully it will
at Lingfield."
William Hill go 20-1 Jazz D'Estruval for the Royal & SunAlliance Chase at the
Festival but Richards said he would only run if the going was suitable.
