McCoy takes the Ladbroke on Tamarinbleu.
LADBROKE WIN FOR TAMARINBLEU
By
Tony McCoy completed a Sandown treble when steering Tamarinbleu to success in the most
valuable race of Saturday, the Ladbroke Handicap Hurdle.
The five-year-old was one of six runners for Martin Pipe in the valuable contest, but
despite being sent off at a relatively unfancied 14-1, he was always ridden
confidently by the champion jockey.
The pair hit the front approaching the second-last, quickly went clear and
never really looked in danger, holding off Self Defense (14-1) by four lengths.
King Revo (14-1) was another three-quarters of a length away in third with
another Pipe runner, Desert Air (66-1), fourth.
McCoy said: "He was very good. He travelled and he jumped well all the way.
Obviously he was as fit as you like, coming from where he does.
"Physically, he feels as if he's improved since last year. He will make a
nice chaser, I would think."
Pipe, relishing the renewal of his link-up with his former stable jockey,
added: "He's won too far again! I'm really delighted for the owners. It's
fantastic." The victory completed a big-race double for Pipe, who had earlier won the Tolworth Hurdle with Marcel.
