Don Chatlos, trainer, winner, Singletary: – “Oh man, it doesn't get any better than this. Here I am, just a poor kid from the South Side of Chicago where there aren't any horses and here I am, on top of the world. It just is the best that it could ever be. I told David (Flores) that this horse wins his races from the three-eighths pole to the quarter-pole. He doesn't have that `turf horse' turn of foot. He wasn't going to come firing late but if he got that good spot right there, he was going to be OK. David rode him great. I am so happy for all of my people.”

David Flores, jockey, winner, Singletary: “I had a great trip. He broke good and we got a good spot. I just waited and waited, and when I saw the light at the head of the stretch, I let him roll.”

Aidan O'Brien, trainer, runner-up, Antonius Pius: “Jamie (Spencer, jockey) said that if he rode him again, he wouldn't have hit him and he would have won -- but I'm not sure of that. He ducked in behind the other horse (Singletary) when he hit him. He's a horse with immense ability, but he is a tricky horse and maybe a little immature, mentally. He has enough pace to be a sprinter. I don't know if he will stay in training or be retired.”

Jamie Spencer, jockey, second, Antonius Pius: – “The course is a bit on the soft side, loose on top. He appreciates that sort of ground though. I gave him a couple of cracks (of the whip) in the stretch and he edged away from the stick. He really should have won it. He has so much ability.”

Pascal Bary, trainer, third, Six Perfections: – “She ran into trouble on the last turn. The jockey told me she was squeezed for room but she made her usual good run at the end. This is her last race. She is being retired and will be bred to Storm Cat.”

Jerry Bailey, jockey of third-place finisher, Six Perfections: “I was happy where I was for the first turn, and down the backstretch, she was traveling well. It was a slow pace, but I knew it would be and I always thought I would be in striking distance. Turning for home, I angled her out but the hole was moving a little quicker that I could move and she lost a little momentum. There is a little cut in the ground, which favors the come-from-behind horses.”

Todd Kabel, jockey, fourth, Soaring Free: – “I was on the lead all the way and just got passed in the lane. He was having trouble with the turns. He's used to those big wide turns at home (Woodbine).”

John Velazquez, jockey, 11th, Nothing To Lose: “No problems. I was a little wide from post 12. I tried to save some ground going into the first turn. We got that done, the second turn now I was hoping to get a little farther in, and we wound up being four- or five-wide.”

Jimmy Jerkens, trainer, beaten favorite and 12th, Artie Schiller: “He had a rough trip. I think if that turf course was a little firmer, he might have got into the race better. When they went by the stands first time, it looked like he was running okay. But then, he had to check going into the first turn and he was never in it after that. He seemed to be stretching his legs somewhat on the backside, but then he had to check again. He never was really in the race.”

Richard Migliore, jockey, beaten favorite and 12th, Artie Schiller: “Every time I needed to accelerate, I really wasn't finding a lot. Maybe if he was able to accelerate in a couple of spots, we might have had a little better trip. He just didn't handle the ground; he was struggling going into the first turn to hold his position.”
