Todd Pletcher, trainer, winner, Ashado: I was shouting `Go, Johnny, Go. Go Johnny Go!' That's became my sort of patented call with him. I didn't give him any special instructions in the paddock. We talked about strategy a little bit but it was pretty obvious what he was going to have to do from that one (post) spot. It opened up for her at the right time and she delivered. Johnny rode her the way he had to. He got a great spot and he got the job done.
John Velazquez, jockey, winner, Ashado: I had a perfect trip. I tucked into position on the first turn and I just had to bide my time following the leaders. When Stellar Jayne went to the outside, a hole opened up for me and when I asked her, she was there for me. I am grateful I was the one to win for Todd.
Claude Shug McGaughey, trainer, runner-up, Storm Flag Flying: She ran good. She had a tight trip the whole way and just couldn't get there. She was running at the end and got beat about a length. This was her last race. She's going to Claiborne to be bred to [1992 Classic winner and Horse of the Year] A.P. Indy.
Jerry Bailey, jockey, runner-up, Storm Flag Flying: I had a relatively good trip, but to win on a come-from-behind horse on this short stretch, you've got a lot of running to do all the way around. And if there is traffic, you can't let them run more. I didn't check. I just couldn't do everything I wanted to let her do. Inside the quarter-pole, I got clear, but had four or five lengths to make up, and the #1 (Ashado) was in front of me. I couldn't catch up.
D. Wayne Lukas, trainer, third, Stellar Jayne: I was pleased, in light of the way it unfolded. We weren't in the gate very long, and didn't get away at all. We were last down the backstretch, and that's not her style. She made a tremendous run to get up for third.
Robby Albarado, jockey, third, Stellar Jayne: She overcame some adversity today by coming from off the pace. She got caught wide around the second turn, ran good, and I'm proud of her. I had no choice.
Rene Douglas, jockey, fourth Tamweel: "She ran a hell of a race. A couple of horses chased me from the five-eighths pole to the three-eighths pole, but you have to expect that in a race like this. She ran a big race and she's an improving filly.'
Kerwin John, jockey, fifth, Island Fashion: "When we hit the first turn I was hung out wide. But when I went down the backstretch, I was out four off the rail and that was a good spot. At the three-eighths pole, I thought I was home free. I had a lot of horse, but then she just kind of flattened out.
