Alan Munro got Gold Cup day off to the best possible start with victory on Dutch Art at Royal Ascot. Munro took the Norfolk Stakes in good style on the two-year-old trained by Peter Chapple-Hyam. Making his challenge in the centre of the course, Dutch Art (11-4) won by a length and three-quarters from the 2-1 favourite Hoh Mike, with Cav Okay a length away third. Cav Okay and Scented Present made the early running in the five-furlong dash with Sonny Red hogging the rail. Munro made his move on the winner a furlong out, switching wide and taking the lead in the last 100 yards to run out a comfortable winner. Hoh Mike looked unlucky in second, running on well under Jamie Spencer after finding a gap late in the race. Owner Paul Roy told BBC Sport: "It's a wonderful moment after we lost Majors Cast recently and the disappointment of Secret World yesterday. It just shows the amazing highs and lows of racing. "We've been totally devastated over the last week so this is wonderful compensation. We are delighted. "This is an exceptional two-year-old and Peter has done a great job with him and we can look forward to the future now." Hoh Mike's trainer Michael Bell said: "It's not the be all and end all, and we will win the July Stakes at Newmarket with no penalty. You have to always look on the bright side of life. "He's a very nice horse and even Peter would say we were unlucky." Spencer agreed and added: "The best horse was second - that's racing." Richard Hannon, trainer of Cav Okay, said: "He ran well and he's a fast ground horse. "He's in the Super Sprint but the Molecomb at Glorious Goodwood would be the race for him as he's got so much speed and would love coming down that hill on fast ground."
