David Clarke's goal seven minutes from time earned the Nottingham Panthers a topsy-turvy 4-3 win over the Edinburgh Capitals to take them two points clear atop the bmibaby Elite League.

Mark Smith gave Edinburgh the lead before Marty Gascon, Jade Galbraith and Sean McAslan - on a powerplay - put the Panthers in control.

The Capitals' Simon Lambert missed a penalty shot after Galbraith was ejected for abuse, but Owen Fussey and Darius Pliskauskas levelled the game - only for Clarke to settle the match.
