David Florence made history on Sunday when he became the first Briton to win two medals in a major international competition at the Slalom World Cup in France.
Olympic silver medallist Florence was third in the men's C1 (canoe single) class before picking up another bronze in the C2 (canoe double) with K1 athlete Richard Hounslow in the first of the three-stage World Cup series in Pau.
Florence said: "It feels very special to win two medals at a world cup. It is the first time in history that anyone has won two medals in slalom. It is also the first time that I have won a medal in the C2 class and this is only the second time I have competed at this level in the C2. So it's fantastic.''
He added: "The runs were not perfect, for the C1 or the C2 classes, but I just held it together right until the finish line.
"Richard (Hounslow) is thrilled. It is his first medal in the C2 class as well, it's just a shame that things didn't work out for him in the men's K1 event.''
The pair will now have confidence going into the second World Cup race next weekend in Bratislava and the World Championships in Seu D'Urgell in September.
Campbell Walsh came sixth in the K1 (kayak single).
