Mark Cavendish and Geraint Thomas collected Britain's sixth and final medal of the UCI Track World Cup in Sydney on Sunday.
The Manx-Welsh combination, riding their first competitive Madison together, lay fifth going into the final sprint.
But Cavendish, 21, produced a stirring performance over the last two of the 160-lap marathon to claim the maximum five points.
And that lifted them into third position, one point behind Italy and four behind winners Denmark.
"It felt a bit weird early on because the last time I'd been on this bike was back in December at the World Cup in Manchester," said Welshman Thomas, a member of the third- placed Team Pursuit quartet.
"The plan was to take it steady early on and then wind it up towards halfway. And 'Cav' produced the goods at the end.
"It's great to have a bit of form going into the Commonwealth Games."
Cavendish, the World Madison champion with Rob Hayles, added: "I was looking to make amends because I'd been disappointed by my Points race.
"We knew there were some inexperienced teams who would go flat out from the start. We just let them burn themselves out before finishing strongly."
Derby's Nikki Harris, third in the women's Points race, finished eighth in the 10 kilometre Scratch.
Hayles and new World Cup individual pursuit champion Wendy Houvenaghel finished the three-day meeting with gold medals.
In addition to Harris and the Madison duo, Chris Newton (Points race) and the Team Pursuiters all finished with bronze medals.
