Britain won another gold medal on the second day of the world championship
finals with victory in the women's lightweight coxless pairs.
Jo Nitsch, who won the world title in 1998, had formed a new partnership with
Sarah Birch this season and the pair were emphatic winners at the Munich World
Cup regatta last month.
They got off to a slow start in Lucerne and trailed the American pair with 500
metres to go, before coming through and crossing the line half-a-length clear.
Their win brings the total British tally to four golds with the prospect of
more to come.
