Misbah led his side to a maiden series success in South Africa by a 2-1 scoreline just weeks after being beaten 4-1 by the same opponents in the Middle East.
Pakistan, who play their 'home' fixtures at various venues in the United Arab Emirates due to the uncertain security situation in their own country, split a pair of Twenty20 internationals with Sri Lanka last week and now turn their attentions back to the 50-over format for a five-match series.
"We have good confidence before another tough series and we hope to carry the momentum we gained in South Africa," said Misbah.
"It is the Pakistan team's quality that they produce better results when they are under pressure. We were under pressure before the South Africa tour and when the confidence is better we play well.
"We must not relax. Complacency comes when you beat a bigger opponent so we must guard against that because Sri Lanka know these conditions well."
Pakistan will be without 7ft 1in seamer Mohammad Irfan due to a fractured hip, but Sri Lanka skipper Angelo Mathews remains wary.
"Pakistan has got one of the finest bowling attacks in the world. They are a good mixture of fast and spin attack. They can counter-attack at any stage," said Mathews.
Sri Lanka are without batting lynchpin Mahela Jayawardene and left-arm spinner Rangana Herath, who both opted out of the one-dayers but will return for the three-match Test series that follows.
