The 38-year-old will only race part-time in next year's championship and would love to secure his ninth driver's crown in front of his adoring home support.

Loeb will go into the final six stages on Sunday with a 29.7-second lead over the Ford Fiesta of Jari-Matti Latvala, knowing he only has to finish ahead of his Citroen team-mate Mikko Hirvonen to secure the title.

Although Hirvonen claimed a stage victory at Massif des Grands Crus-Ungersberg 2, he remains in third place, a massive 54 seconds behind Loeb.

Earlier in the day the twelfth stage in Klevener was cancelled by event organisers due to an influx of spectators making the 10.75km stage undriveable.
