The firm's spokesman Steve Freeth said: "Michael van Gerwen may have started the final at odds-on but the liabilities on the Dutchman had built up a few months earlier and after laying him at 100/1 and the final for us was all about damage limitation.
"You can probably count on one hand the number of favourites chinned and it's a tournament our darts traders want to forget about rather quickly."
bet365 are betting on when MVG wins his first World Championship and how many Sky TV tournaments he lands during 2013, making him 5/4 to win three or more of the latter and 3/1 to land his first world crown next year.
Coral have Taylor as the 5/2 favourite to make it 17 world titles in 2014, with van Gerwen also rated a 3/1 chance.
"Taylor has been written off numerous times in recent years, but no matter how poor his form may be throughout the year, he always gets it right on the biggest occasion and another world title is definitely possible," said Coral spokesman Gary Burton.
The firm have also cut him to 40/1 from 100s to land the 2013 BBC Sports Personality of the Year award, a market headed by 3/1 chance Andy Murray.
"Although Taylor has done nothing different to what we normally expect in early January, his win is the first big achievement of the New Year, and if he can go on and add other titles in 2013 he could be considered for the end of season honour," added Burton.
At best prices, Taylor is 11/4 favourite for next year's PDC World Championship with BetVictor ahead of van Gerwen at 7/2 with Boylesports and it's 12/1 bar.
