Brian McDermott's side took an early lead when Pavel Pogrebnyak prodded home, but Spurs drew level through Michael Dawson's header before asserting their authority after the break.

Strikes from Emmanuel Adebayor and Clint Dempsey secured the win for Tottenham and the Royals remain stuck in the bottom three.

Sky Bet cut McDermott to 5/2 to be the next Premier League manager to leave his post after 7/4 favourite Paul Lambert saw his Aston Villa side gain a 2-2 draw at Swansea.

That result also saw BetVictor push Villa out to 2/1 for the drop, the same price Coral and bet365 quote about Wigan following their 4-0 defeat against Manchester United.

Southampton drew 1-1 against Arsenal in the day's final match and Nigel Adkins' men have drifted to 11/8 for relegation with BetVictor.

That result completed a good start to 2013 for Tottenham with Andre Villas-Boas' outfit cut to 11/8 for a top-four spot by Stan James and Arsenal out to even-money with bet365 and William Hill.

Manchester United are now 2/5 favourites for the title but rivals Manchester City kept tabs on them by beating Stoke 3-0, and they're generally 7/2.

Coral are quoting 5/4 that United win the league and Robin van Persie finishes the season as the top goalscorer, after he bagged a brace at the DW Stadium.

"With Manchester United seven points clear at the top of the table and Robin van Persie currently the league's top scorer, the 5/4 could represent some decent value, especially if the Dutchman can stay fit between now and the end of the season," said the firm's Tim Reynolds.

Van Persie is now 5/4 withBlue Square to win the golden boot for the second campaign in a row.
