Demba Ba is a best of 16/1 to win the Premier League's Golden Boot after moving joint top of the scorers' list with a double against Wigan.

The Senegal striker scored his ninth and 10th goals of the season as Newecastle beat Wigan 3-0 on Monday night.

Ba, who has now scored 33 times in 60 career Premier League games, can be backed at 16s with Boylesports to end the season as the leading scorer.

It should be pointed out that Ba will not have to head to the Africa Cup of Nations in January - Senegal have not qualified. However, his future remains in doubt with Newcastle confirming a £7.5million release clause remains in his contract.

Ba's goals mean there are now four players leading the way on 10 - Michu, Luis Suarez and Robin van Persie being the others.

Last year's winner Van Persie remains the favourite at a best of 2/1 with Paddy Power.

Liverpool star Suarez is 4/1 (Boylesports), while Swansea's Michu is 22s with the same firm.

Tottenham striker Jermain Defoe has nine goals - including four in his last three games - and is 12/1 with BetVictor, while Everton's Marouane Fellaini, who like Ba has been linked with a January transfer, can be backed at 66s. He has eight so far.

Carlos Tevez, the leading scorer for league champions Manchester City, is next in the scorers' chart with seven and he is a 14/1 shot (bet365).

Both Sky Bet and BetVictor bet on Ba's future.

Sky Bet have Liverpool as 3/1 favourites to sign the striker in January - BetVictor go 5/1.

BetVictor have Chelsea (4/1) at the head of their market. Sky Bet will give you 7/1 about Ba joining the Stamford Bridge outfit next month.

Meanwhile, Wigan are general 9/4 shots for relegation following their defeat.
