Former Liverpool and Inter Milan boss Benitez was backed in from 2/1 to 1/8 to get the job once Roberto Di Matteo's dismissal was confirmed and is 5/1 to lead them to the Premier League title.

Benitez is 6/1 to help the Blues retain their FA Cup crown, although the online betting company has also added a number of specials around Roman Abramovich's penchant for firing managers.

Sky Bet are 20/1 that Benitez is the next Premier League manager to lose his job and 33/1 to leave before New Year's Day.

Sky Bet's Live Football manager Joe Petyt said: "It's a great chance for Rafa to rebuild his reputation after his unsuccessful spell at Inter Milan.

"Chelsea fans may not be too happy with the appointment and he'll need to hit the ground running and they could be on his back quickly.

"Abramovich has shown he doesn't tolerate a poor run of results and the pressure will be on Benitez to perform right from the first game."

Benitez will be unlikely to salvage Chelsea's Champions League campaign following Tuesday night's 3-0 defeat at Juventus and they are now a best of 5/2 with Betfred and Stan James to progress to the last 16.

His best chance of immediate glory will be the Capital One Cup for which Chelsea are general 6/4 favourites ahead of a quarter-final meeting at Leeds.
