With the countdown to the Ryder Cup nearing its conclusion, bodog and Stan James are taking on Europe by offering a top industry price of 17/10 about their victory chances.

Europe are outsiders to win the Ryder Cup at Medinah

Europe have won four of the last five matches against the USA but did lose on their previous trip across the Atlantic in 2008 when they were beaten 16.5-11.5.

bodog's Nick Gray said Lee Westwood's last-place finish in the weekend's TOUR Championship was one of the key reasons behind his firm lengthening Europe's odds.

"Historically Westwood has been the cornerstone of the European side with a massive 19 points won, but his form at East Lake was a concern. If anything his putting seems to have got worse," said Gray.

With the price on Joe Maria Olazabal's side moving out, USA have been shortened to 4/6 by bodog, although 8/11 is widely available, including at Sky Bet, Ladbrokes and William Hill.

The TOUR Championship was won by USA team member Brandt Snedeker, who has been trimmed by several firms to be the Americans' leading pointscorer at Medinah Country Club in Illinois.

Sky Bet still offer a best of 16/1 though, while Snedeker is 33s with the same firm to be the top scorer of the whole event, which gets under way on Friday.

Gray added: "Individually, the majority of the Americans seem to be riding a crest of a wave at the moment and it looks like the Ryder Cup has come at just the right time for them."
