THORBJORN A STANDOUT BET AT 33s

2pts e.w. Thorbjorn Olesen at 33/1 (Ladbrokes 1/4 1,2,3,4,5).
1pt e.w. Chris Wood at 50/1 (Ladbrokes 1/4 1,2,3,4,5).
This week's BMW Italian Open has attracted a stellar field, and our full preview of the event will be published on Tuesday afternoon.
But Ladbrokes' quote of 33/1 about rising star Thorbjorn Olesen is just too good to ignore - he'd have been our headline selection at the generally-available 25/1 anyway - so we'll get on early before it goes.
In last year's event, my colleague David John tipped him at a whopping 200/1, highlighting his tendency to reproduce his best form in Italy.
Olesen, at the time without a win on Tour, didn't let us down with a stunning final round 62 that very nearly saw him steal the prize from Robert Rock, eventually settling for second.
Fast forward to the spring, and Olesen won the first of many European Tour titles in Sicily to further prove David's theory, and with course form firmly in the book he looks to have outstanding claims.
Ignore his missed cut at the idiosyncratic Crans-sur-Sierre and get on now before the price tumbles.
We're going to add Chris Wood, too, as Ladbrokes have him at 50/1 and it simply won't last until the morning.
He has placed twice from four starts in Italy, including when second to Olesen in the Sicilian Open and when third in this event in 2010.
Further evidence of his love for the course can be found in last year's opening 64, and two visits have seen him rank second and third for greens hit.
Wood retired from the European Masters with a back spasm two weeks ago but reports that the problem is behind him, and played solid golf in Holland last week as he returned to competition.
Some time home with the family in Bristol should have him relaxed and ready for a return to one of his favourite venues.
He won the recent Thailand Open on a par-72 layout in 23-under, which bodes really well for this week, and at 50/1 I have to get him on-side while I can.
