Saturday's TV Bet rolled over when Van Ellis won the Sky Bet Dash at York which was Leg 5.

Betfred and Totepool spokesman Mark Pearson said: "The win fund was guaranteed at a nice £200,000 but once again it proved too tough for the punters.

"It will be a decent pot next weekend but won't be easy with Glorious Goodwood featuring in the bet."

A total of £185,636 was bet into the pool and a total of 226 punters collected the place fund which paid £164.20.

The victory of Van Ellis had little impact on antepost markets, although third-placed Tax Free was cut to 16/1 from 25s for next week's Stewards Cup by William Hill.

David Nicholls's horse was second to Hoof It in last year's renewal and returned to something like his best with a gallant effort in defeat.

Over at Ascot, Maureen gained compensation for a luckless run in the Cherry Hinton with a straightfoward success, earning quotes of 16/1 for next year's 1000 Guineas in the process.

BetVictor cut Richard Hannon's filly to 12/1, and their spokesman Charlie McCann said: "Maureen confirmed she was desperately unlucky loser on the July course in the Cherry Hinton last time and she has been cut into 12 on the back of her Ascot win having been nibbled at earlier in the week from 20s to 16."
