Liverpool's Walkden saw off Ivanova in the +73kg category in Baku.

The 22-year-old won 6-2 and is now eyeing an assault on the 2016 Olympics.

"It's amazing to be European champion," said the number three seed.

"I could always win Open events. I reckon it's 16 and counting. However, I could never do it at a major. Until now.

"And because I've beaten the world number one in the final, comfortably, I am buzzing.

"Hopefully, I can get a lot more gold medals at a major but it's step by step.

"I want to take all this in and then start collecting enough ranking points to get to Rio 2016. I want to have another gold medal around my neck in two years' time."

Elsewhere, a bronze medal for world number one Lutalo Muhammad took Great Britain's medal tally to three in two days, losing in the -87kg final to Radik Isaev.

Olympic champion Jade Jones joins the competition on Saturday.
