The Karaiskaki Stadium was the velodrome for the first modern Olympic Games in 1896 before being renovated during the 1960s.
It has been completely rebuilt into a modern football stadium for 33,000 fans for these Games. It hosts 11 matches, including the women's final.
Greek club Olympiakos will move in after the Games.
